Pipelines are custom-designed transportation systems with specific operational parameters, often subject to adverse environmental conditions, and therefore can develop a range of different flaws and anomalies.
Pipeline inspection is an important part of the overall pipeline integrity management (PIM) process. The data provided by in-line inspection tools are critical regarding integrity assessment analysis and determining whether a pipeline is fit for purpose. Any anomalies have to be detected, sized and assessed before they can grow to be a defect which might endanger the integrity of the line.
A successful inspection program provides results assisting the operator in maintaining, rehabilitating and optimizing the pipeline system. It is therefore vital to select the inspection equipment best suited for the specific inspection requirement which the pipeline operator needs to address, in order to meet the main objectives of the survey.
NDT Services assists the pipeline operator in assessing the pipeline system, both in terms of determining the right inspection technology and suitability of the pipeline section for in-line inspection. Project engineers at NDT Services will carefully review pipeline data, obtained through technical questionnaires and on-site visits in order to recommend suitable procedures for the inspection of the line and the application of the chosen in-line inspection tool.
If necessary, modification measures on the pipeline and/or inspection equipment will be specified.
We believe in listening carefully to our customers in order to precisely identify their requirements and thus define the most suitable, efficient and cost-effective inspection and integrity solutions.
